Highlights
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport — Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your guide meets you and transfers you to Arusha (approx. 1 hour). Arusha is the safari capital of Tanzania — a vibrant town at the foot of Mount Meru. Check in to your hotel and take the afternoon to orientate, visit the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre or explore the local market. Dinner and overnight in Arusha.
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart south-west to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours). Tarangire is one of Tanzania's most underrated parks — the Tarangire River acts as a dry-season lifeline, drawing massive concentrations of elephants, buffalo, and zebra. Spend the afternoon on game drives through baobab-studded savanna. Watch for python in the river banks and keep an eye on the skies for martial eagles. Dinner and overnight at your tented camp.
Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
Morning game drive in Tarangire to catch predator activity at the cooler hours. After lunch, drive to Lake Manyara National Park (approx. 1.5 hours). The afternoon drive covers the lakeshore floodplain — scan for flamingos turning the alkaline shallows pink, hippos lazing in the river, and the park's famous tree-climbing lions resting in the fig and mahogany canopy. Arrive at your lodge on the Rift Valley escarpment overlooking the lake. Dinner and overnight.
Ngorongoro Crater
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — a collapsed supervolcano covering 260 km² and harbouring the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. The crater floor holds the Big Five, including one of East Africa's last stable populations of black rhino. Spend the full day exploring the crater's varied habitats: the open grasslands, hippo pools, and the soda lake tinted pink by flamingos. A packed lunch is taken inside the crater. Ascend in the late afternoon to your rim lodge for sundowners and sweeping views over the caldera. Dinner and overnight.
Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti
After breakfast, descend from the Ngorongoro Highlands and drive west into the Serengeti (approx. 2–3 hours). En route, stop at the Oldupai Gorge, one of the world's most important palaeontological sites where early human fossils were discovered. Arrive in the central Seronera region, the heart of the Serengeti and the best all-year wildlife corridor. Afternoon game drive seeking lion prides, cheetah on the open plains, and leopard in the riverine acacias. Dinner under the stars at your camp.
Full Day in the Serengeti
A full day in the Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. The central Seronera corridor consistently offers outstanding predator viewing — lion, leopard, and cheetah are regularly seen from the vehicle. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration calving grounds (January–March in the south), or the thunderous Mara River crossings (July–October in the north). Enjoy a sundowner drive as the African light turns golden, then a campfire dinner.
Serengeti Morning Drive — Departure
One final sunrise game drive in the Serengeti before breakfast. Return to camp, pack up, and transfer to Seronera Airstrip for your scheduled charter flight back to Kilimanjaro or Arusha (approx. 1 hour). Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. Alternatively, continue to Zanzibar for a 3–4 day beach extension — ask us about the Serengeti-Zanzibar combination.
