Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Arrival in Johannesburg — Transfer to Kruger

Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. Your guide meets you and you drive east to the Kruger area (approx. 4.5 hours) or take a 45-minute charter flight directly to a bush airstrip. Check in to your lodge in a private reserve bordering Kruger. Afternoon game drive in open safari vehicles — private reserves allow off-road tracking, so you can follow predators into the bush. Sundowners in the field. Return to the lodge for a bush boma dinner under the stars.

Meals: DStay: Private game lodge, Greater Kruger
2

Full Day in Kruger/Private Reserve

Morning and evening game drives with your ranger and tracker. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which shares an open border with Kruger, is renowned for its leopard sightings — some of the most reliable in Africa. Track lions on foot with an armed ranger (optional walking safari). Midday rest at the lodge with a gourmet lunch. Hot outdoor shower, swimming pool, and boma fire in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

Meals: B, L, DStay: Private game lodge, Greater Kruger
3

Kruger National Park — Self-Drive Option

For those who prefer to explore independently, Kruger National Park offers 9 main gates and an excellent self-drive network. This day can be spent inside the main park covering the southern sections between Skukuza and Lower Sabie — consistently the best Big Five circuits. Alternatively, your guide can take you deep into the park on a guided full-day excursion. Evening return to your lodge or private camp inside the park. Dinner and overnight.

Meals: B, L, DStay: Private game lodge or Kruger rest camp
4

Transfer to Cape Town — Arrival & V&A Waterfront

Morning flight from Kruger or Hoedspruit Airport to Cape Town (approx. 2 hours). Transfer to your hotel and take the afternoon to explore Cape Town's iconic V&A Waterfront — working harbour, restaurants, Two Oceans Aquarium, and craft markets. Table Mountain looms above the city — book a cable car ride for the late afternoon when the light is best. The summit offers views across the Cape Peninsula, Cape Flats, and out to sea. Dinner in the Cape Town restaurant scene (one of the best in Africa).

Meals: B, DStay: Hotel, Cape Town
5

Cape Peninsula Day Tour

Full day exploring the dramatic Cape Peninsula. Drive the Atlantic Seaboard past Clifton and Camps Bay — some of the world's most spectacular white-sand beaches flanked by mountains. Continue south through Hout Bay to Chapman's Peak, one of the world's great coastal drives. Visit Boulders Beach to walk among a colony of 3,000 African penguins. Continue to Cape Point — where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet — and climb the funicular to the lighthouse for panoramic views. Return to Cape Town via the Cape of Good Hope.

Meals: B, LStay: Hotel, Cape Town
6

Cape Winelands — Stellenbosch & Franschhoek

Day trip to the Cape Winelands (approx. 45 minutes from Cape Town). Stellenbosch is South Africa's oldest wine town — a beautiful grid of Cape Dutch homesteads set against vine-covered mountains. Visit 3–4 estates for tastings and cellar tours. Continue to Franschhoek (the 'French Corner') — a village of French Huguenot descendants with an extraordinary concentration of acclaimed restaurants and wine estates. Private tastings and a gourmet lunch at one of Franschhoek's celebrated eateries. Return to Cape Town.

Meals: B, LStay: Hotel, Cape Town
7

Cape Town Free Day or Garden Route Extension

A free day in Cape Town to explore at your own pace — Kalk Bay harbour, the Neighbourgoods Market, the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, or a paraglide from Signal Hill. Alternatively, use this day to begin a Garden Route extension: drive east along the N2 to Mossel Bay (approx. 4 hours), stopping at the Overberg wheat fields and whale-watching towns of Hermanus and Gansbaai (great white shark cage diving available). Check in to your Garden Route lodge.

Meals: BStay: Hotel, Cape Town or Garden Route lodge
8

Garden Route — Knysna, Tsitsikamma & Cango Caves

Explore the iconic Garden Route: stop at Knysna Lagoon, one of South Africa's most beautiful estuaries, and take a boat trip past the Knysna Heads. Continue to Tsitsikamma National Park for a suspension bridge walk over the Storms River gorge. Optional bungee jump from Bloukrans Bridge — at 216m, the world's highest commercial bungee. Drive through the Outeniqua Mountain Pass to Oudtshoorn for a guided tour of the Cango Caves — a vast limestone cavern system decorated with stalactites millions of years in the making.

Meals: B, LStay: Hotel or lodge, Garden Route
9

Return to Cape Town — Departure

Morning at leisure on the Garden Route before driving or flying back to Cape Town (approx. 4 hours road or 1 hour flight). Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your international departure. If your flight is late, use the day for last shopping at the V&A Craft Market or a final Table Mountain walk.
