Highlights
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Nairobi — Transfer to Maasai Mara
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where your private guide meets you and assists with the transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve (approx. 5–6 hours, or 45 minutes by charter flight). Drive through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the escarpment viewpoint. Check in to your lodge or tented camp. Afternoon at leisure with optional sundowner drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Full Day in Maasai Mara
Rise early for a sunrise game drive across the golden savanna of the Maasai Mara. Spend the full day inside the reserve tracking lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, and the enormous resident hippo pods. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch in the bush. Afternoon drive through the Mara Triangle or along the Mara River — the crossing point for the annual Great Migration (July–October). Campfire dinner under the stars.
Maasai Mara — Maasai Village & Optional Balloon Safari
Optional hot air balloon safari at dawn over the Mara plains (bookable on request — approx. $450 per person). Late morning visit to an authentic Maasai village: meet community elders, learn about traditional customs, and witness the jumping dance ceremony. Afternoon game drive focusing on predator activity near the Mara River. Depart for Lake Nakuru after lunch.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park — scan the alkaline lake shore for pink-tinged flamingo flocks and the grassy verges for white and black rhinos. The park is one of Kenya's most reliable spots to see both rhino species. Continue through forested hills where leopards rest in acacia trees. Afternoon game drive or optional visit to Hyrax Hill archaeological site. Dinner and overnight.
Lake Naivasha — Boat Ride & Crescent Island
Drive to Lake Naivasha in the heart of the Rift Valley. After check-in, enjoy a scenic boat ride on the lake, home to hippos, Egyptian geese, herons, kingfishers, and fish eagles. Disembark at Crescent Island for a guided walking safari among giraffe, zebra, impala, and waterbuck — one of the few places in Kenya where you walk freely among wildlife. Sundowners on the lakeshore. Dinner and overnight.
Amboseli National Park
Early departure south to Amboseli National Park (approx. 4–5 hours). Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive with the iconic backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro — the world's highest freestanding mountain — rising above the savanna. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds, and the clear afternoon light makes for exceptional photography. Sundowners at camp. Dinner and overnight.
Amboseli Morning Drive — Return to Nairobi
Early morning game drive in Amboseli — the best light for Kilimanjaro and elephant photography. Return to camp for breakfast before departing for Nairobi (approx. 4 hours). On the way, optional stop at a Maasai market. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, or overnight in Nairobi if departing the following day.
